I think Ricoh were very much proud to own such a prestigious brand; OTOH we were asking them to be ashamed of that fact, "how dare they!". The entire issue is nonsense.

It's only the small space at the holder for the focussing screen and we can see a small part of the screen.
It's nothing mystic 😁

back LCD marginally bigger, too

You are right.
Thanks.
It was hard to find a scale for the back of K-1 & K-3.

Maybe I should delete the images?

There is also simply nothing on any current Pentax lens in that location to connect with, I guess.

It's funny for me to read that. What did Ricoh do ? Until now, none of the products released by Ricoh since they took over Pentax, outsold the K-5. We will see if the Pentax K-1 will outsell the K-5.
it will outsell k5 which was 1700$ at time releasebut k1 is full frame and to be sell at 2000$.
so i think k1 will bring pentax brand to the next step of digital era!

Yet.

On the other hand, if these are indeed genuine pictures I am looking for the aperture coupling arm and not finding it.

There goes that faint hope, I guess. Oh well, never mind - we shall see what else this baby's got.

Pentax body prices do drop quite significantly shortly after release, at least they did so far. The K-1 may be a bit more stable. Anyway, the actual price wasn't confirmed yet, was it?

I hope it's a bit more stable, I don't want to feel like I should wait or should have waited..
But then, as far as i can tell body prices are stable for quite a long time in switzerland. never paid much attention though, I do admit.

Let's just say in the Corporate world in general, not in a particular country. I feel a bit of presumptuousness from your part but i'm not here to spark a debate.

I don't think Ricoh purchased the Pentax camera business unit because they have a good heart ! As usual, they made a deal that they thought made sense for Hoya and Ricoh.
Probably not of good heart alone, but given the time when that happened (unsure economic times, global recession, contracting markets etc) and the fact they already had an optics division (true that less developed and with less heritage) my hunch tells me, business interests aside, they also didn't want a legendary name, one of their own, go down the drain. And because they had the money to lift Pentax up from the mud, they did it. We, in the western world, where it's eat or be eaten, can't fully digest these attitudes and your slightly cynic remark with the "good heart" proves it.

I am looking forward to hands - on user feedback. At my level of experience and talent, I'm not sure I could hang with the big dogs on this one but I'd like to grow into it ........

No dedicated movie record button...

Automatically -20 points by dpreview.

The separate video mode switch on top reduces that to -19 points!

Sometimes I have waited and sometimes I have preordered. I have never regretted getting the camera or lens earlier. But I do not look on such purchases as investments but, rather, as rentals where I get a deposit back when I sell. If I have no immediate use or curiosity about an item I can wait. Prices will always go down on technology.
