Pentax K1 Vs Lumix Gx8

Hey,

Just want to show you guys a new video from thecamerville.

I think this is more towards the M43 community than us but its nice to watch the iso being tested against a crop sensor.

Makes me feel good in owning a K1.

Cheers!

Pretty much a waste of time(imo).....GX8 is a longway back in M43 tech

What will be interesting in a similar test is the EM1mk2/GH5, both these are a similar price to the K1.

The GX8 and GX85 are the top of the rangefinder style bodies Panasonic makes. They aren't that long in the tooth. If we were looking at a gx7 vs k1 maybe if see your point better.

Comparing a cam that costs 1/3rd the price with 1/4 the sensor size in the area which the K1 was designed for, imo a waste of time...

K1 is the flagship FF, GX8 is the Panasonic"brick"....the GH5 is worth a comparison( its a handy video cam too)

That is a view of the gx series I don't share, the Gx cameras are Panasonic's premium midsized camera's. As for pricing, where do you buy your cameras? B&H lists the Gx8 at $999 and the K-1 isn't even twice that much. I agree that the new GH5 would make for an interesting comparison, but that doesn't make this a stupid comparison.

At the moment(GX8 is 900aussie.GH4 is 1200..on our ebay...our exchange rate hovers around point75 of the greenbuck) both good prices for very capable but outdated tools.K1 is A$2729 delivered from the aussie distributor.

At least quote me in full.. This isn't a stupid comparison in my opinion, but I agree that you can feel otherwise.

OK,...I stated (imo) that the video was a waste of time.....at no point did I mention "stupid"....apart from quoting a part of your post.My opinion is this comparison is irrelevant.

Price...sensor size...form factor ect.....the 2 cameras are not even close to be considered for a comparison, they do different things well(and I considered buying a GX8 a while ago)....I wasted 20 odd minutes and wont bother with this guys YouTube stuff again.

I'm also considering buying the GH5, it ticks many boxes if considering a camera that is going to do great moving pictures and possibly good still ones.

I was joking mostly about the quote...

I think the gh5 is pretty fantastic also.

So what is the purpose of this video? It's like comparing large format to K1. Pointless.
They should also try to compare 4K video qualities between these cameras. But oh wait...
GX8 and K1 are entirely different cameras for different target groups.

thank you.

As some of us many want to slowly invest on 2nd camera, mirror less, this gives us an idea on what to expect from these other smaller sensor system. The Gx8 is same Image quality as the G85 that just came out 2 months ago.

Going back to the video, you can get good quality with some post processing on m43. You can also achieve that bokah affect but not as close as full frame but still you can get it.
