First K-3 Problem

Well I managed to "crash" my K-3. I was trying to record a video (I set it so video would record to SD2) and I had no card in the SD2. The camera told me I have no SD card and went back to LV mode.

The screen then froze at the movie mode, turning off/on the camera does nothing. I've had this happen to K-5 before and the mirror was stuck in up position when it happened but not this time around.

Battery pull fixed the issue just like in K-5.

I tried to record a movie again trying to replicate the issue but it didn't happen again, hopefully its just a random hiccup...

I think there's an option which specifies videos record on SD2 slot. That can be changed, the slots can mirror etc. if you select the right setting. I'd think a crash is an extreme reaction to what should be an error message in such a situation.

I know...I set it manually to SD2, I forgot I left it in my SD card reader and only had a card in SD1 slot when I tried to do a video test.
I tried to reproduce it again but it just gives the normal error msg (no card in sd2 slot), so hopefully its just a one time thing

Sounds like something that could be fixed with a firmware update pretty easily.

That doesn't sound like a K3 problem, more like operator error.

It shouldn't freeze, just tell the user that there is no card.

Make sure to report back to Pentax support, so they can include appropriate fix in the .01 FW release " general stability improvements."

Really appreciate you pre-orderers doing the pilot UAT for the rest of us laggers

What? So the camera completely freezes in a way that can't be replicated even when TRYING to make it happen, but it must have been the user?
When your car won't start I bet you're turning the key wrong.

It should just record the video letting the operator come home to discover, no card - no video

Any electronic device should be designed to gracefully handle a user pushing it's buttons inappropriately. Freezing up and locking the user out is not acceptable.

I already get this behavior from my girlfriend, I don't want it from my electronic toys as well.
