K3 AF Adjustments

So I'm going through my transition from a K5iis to K3 Phase where little quirks get me ancy.

I've noticed when going from one end of AF range to other (infinity to close or close to infinity it doesn't matter) that the AF makes a couple braking maneuvers before settling in. This has actually lengthened my focus lock time from my k5iis.

I still have my K5iis so I did quick comparison on 4 lenses and got same results from K3 - it closes in on focus, brakes, zeroes in and locks.

The set up - AF Spot, TaV Mode, indoor, version 1.10

Lenses tested - F50 1.7, sigma 100-300 f4, tarmon 17-50 f2.8, FA 28

the first lens I stuck on the K3 was the f50 1.7 just to make sure everything worked and the AF did its stuttering. So I stuck on the 100-300, and then the Tamron since they are 3 diff manufacturers. at least I'm getting consistent results. does the K3 eventually break in and this go away? understand AF is my pet peeve with the K5iis so I'm a little hypersensitive about the K3 not living up to my expectations.

and no I have not done any lens calibrations, haven't had the time, but if that's the answer are we talking a global adjustment? what a pain

I just tried the same comparision with the only lens I have in common with your list, the Tamron 17-50 f2.8
The focus on the K-3 does 2 quick movements before confirming focus lock. The K-5iis does exactly the same.
I think the K-3 is fractionally quicker to focus than the K-5iis but the difference was too small to measure.
Total time from shutter press to focus lock ranged from 0.57 to 0.79 seconds - it didn't really matter whether it was focusing close to far or far to close.

ok... update time:

so far I've only had to time to calibrate the sigma 100-300. after about an hour I got it dialed to about +7 I think
so my lens was back focused.
it now is much snappier when locking, usually with just one extra tweak but a nice solid "thunk"
guess i'll have to do my other lenses as well, BF/FF issues could be the culprit

so, i'm finding my lenses are all over the place

my sigma 100-300 is +7 may tamron is -9 my sigma 20-40 is -8, my DA40 is +3, my FA50 is -10 my FA100 is -5

what is one supposed to do with that kind of spacing?

it wasn't nearly this bad with my k5iis, they were all within +/- 4ish

Yes I found that also when I relegated my K-iis to backup body in favor of the K-3.
I found the higher resolution in the K-3 let me see more clearly what focus corrections were actually required.
