Things I Learned After My Photo Hit #1 on Reddit, and Why I Probably Shouldn't Have Posted It

Friends think I'm crazy for not having an on-line presence or spamming social media with my work, but I really don't think its worth the trouble.

I think he is more irritated that they stole the work without giving him credit or linking back to his website. You don't "use" other peoples work without asking permission. These sites benefit from having quality content in the form of traffic.

Just because you upload your work on Flickr or 500pix doesn't give someone else the right to steal it.

I never post any photos on line either. Of course I don't have Facebook or Twitter or any other such account either.

From the first paragraph:

Recognition! Sweet, sweet recognition! It felt great.
And it goes on from there: oooh, my photo's been licensed, my photo has won a contest, my photo is so loved. But when I went looking for just a little more love, sadly, mean people on the internet stole it!

Well, I am completely shocked that in 2014, photo theft has come to the internet.
