Wouldn't people making sci-fi movies in the 60s love to start with something like that? Wonderful picture, but gives me the shivers.

And here I thought , how cute the little dickens was ...

mtngal , is that short for mountain gal ? ( mtngal kind of seems like a outdoorsy moniker - to me )

Yes, it does stand for mountain gal. Seems appropriate for someone who lives at about 6,000 feet elevation. I've done a fair amount of hiking , birding and such things, but I've never been particularly fond of bugs.

Hmmm , go outdoors here in Oz and its nothing but bugs !
Wall to wall bugs , 10's of thousands of them , especially in spring summer autumn ... 3 Seasons of bug goodness .
I remember going to a place of outdoor adventure , and I swear . There was like a million mosquito's per person , I had my own personal fog bank made up of blood sucking skeeters ..
There were so many of them they actually blotted out the sun .. After about 10 minutes of flailing my arms about like a man on fire , I hid in some tee trees .. After that I was down to about 100,000 skeeters ... ( Much Better )

Really great shots. I've seen those around here and they are tiny. I've tried the stacking lens thing and I can't get a decent photo with it.
