Macro Vintage Macro ( Tiger Mantis )

Vintage Macro ( Tiger Mantis ) · **1 Like**

Vintage as far as Pentax'es first DSLR , and a ( M ) 50mm F4 Macro lens ...
The istD is rather dated these days .

Still , the pictures look to be ok ..

How do you get so close? I also like how you shoot at F32 - diffraction be darned.

Hmm , first image was 1:2 second was 1:2.5 ...
How do I get so close , slowly .. After a few years you learn to slow down , and let the insects get used to your presence , then move in slowly for the shot ..
Different scenario for different insects .. Mantis don't want to move once in position , so don't give them a reason to move .. Might still be there an hour later if you don't stress them too hard . That way you have time to go inside and check the pictures , and if they bite , go outside and try again . ATM I have a serious shortage of insects .. I think the mantis and spiders have cleaned up this year ...
