[Please Note : Apparently "Camerascreens" (the Beattie Intenscreen most recent company name), like Katzeye, went out of business a few days after this listing was posted, so that the links below will now bring up a 404 page with the message, "Unfortunately, we have to report that the manufacturers of the Intenscreen have decided to discontinue manufacturing this product". I also notice that this screen is no longer available from B&H and Adorama anymore.]
Here's what Beattie says about the advantages of using an Intenscreen -- "When the Beattie Intenscreen is used in 35mm SLR's, Medium Format, or View Cameras, the user can expect an increase of viewing brightness of 1½ to 4 f-stops depending on the camera used. With the increased brightness it will become easier to focus in low light or poor contrast conditions, indoors or outdoors. Beattie Intenscreen helps the user achieve fast and accurate focusing while preserving detail and a brighter image. Beattie Intenscreen bright focusing screens [are] a combination of a specifically designed image surface and a Fresnel lens. This reduces the amount of light required for image-forming and transmits the bulk of the light to your eye. Not only does this improve your depth of field, but it increases the sharpness of your own vision. The Beattie Intenscreen is custom-tailored for each type of camera to work best with its features and optics." (
Beattie Intenscreen Information )
This particular Intenscreen PLUS screen comes with a diagonal central split image surrounded by a matte background, especially designed for manual focus (particularly when horizontal as well as vertical lines might be used for focusing on).
I describe its condition as "LN-", since, while it has never been used, the outer packaging seems a bit worn.
The current price for one of these on the Beattie web site (
Pentax 35mm Beattie Intenscreens ) is $190.44 USD (plus shipping from AU), so this one is being offered at
about half less than one-third price.
If the buyer needs or wants one (and please let me know ~before~ shipping), I can provide a jen-you-wine Pentax metal focusing screen forceps, because (IMHO) the only shortcoming of the otherwise deluxe packaging of the Intenscreen product is the rather blunt and clunky red plastic forceps provided by Beattie.
Please send a personal message if you are interested in this screen. Thanks.
