TAKUMAR BAYONET 135mm f/2.5, K-mount lens.

This copy is sharp—please see photo of resolution chart shot wide open. I have shots taken at each aperture if you like; just ask.

As you can see from the photos, this lens looks new: barrel, glass front and back, mount, aperture and focus ring are all as bright and shiny as the day they were made. Easy to focus, with 270-degree travel of focus ring.

No scratches, haze, fungus, or oil on blades. Eight blades make for lovely bokeh, and blades remain round (no pinwheeling).

Comes with its own leatherette bag (worn from use), back lens cap and built-in hood.

After using this for a few days and enjoying such spectacular results, I have raised the price.

You don't know how tempting this is. (Repeats to self "I have an FA 135/2.8 that has nice manual focus on film and I do not need this lens...")

I totally agree.

I used to have it, and then when I got the SMC-A 135 2.8 I sold it... but for whatever reason I was never as happy with the A as I was with the Takumar. My Takumar was just so sharp and rendered so nicely - brown tones in particular were just wonderful, as was anything with water in the picture.
The A was nice but it suffered from some weird aberrations wide open in high contrast areas, where it would just give a glow. It had to be used at F4 - but at that point my SMC-A 70-210mm was sharper and contrastier. I think mine just wasn't a good copy... so I sold the A 135 and looked for a Takumar Bayonet again... found a 135 2.8 (it's the newer version they did, 2.8 instead of 2.5) and I'm happy with it now It's sufficiently sharp wide open, no aberrations, very sharp closed down. Renders very similarly to my M 50 1.7
The 135 Bayonets are highly recommended .

I went out shooting yesterday with this lens, half the time wide open, then the rest of the day a f/8. This lens is surprisingly sharp at f/2.5, with only the lightest halo effects and fringing. Amazing. I just may keep it as a portrait lens, since it puts me 15 feet from my subject, and that's about the distance I like to keep in order to put the subject at ease and give me a flat field of view, and a nice out of focus area even at f/4 or 5.6. This shot was 30 yards from the storefront, wide open, hand held—clear as a bell.

The lens is beautifully simple but tough in design, with an accurate focus ring and sensitive aperture ring. The main drawback is that the lens is not coated, so no shots into the sun. Other than that, it's a stellar performer and sharper than many lenses that sell for three times the price.

As far as I know, all Takumar Bayonets are coated, it's just a more simple coating rather than the 7-layer SMC.

Thanks for the intel, Chris. Records show that Super Takumars were coated. However, later lenses, maybe not.

This is from Wikipedia, although I do not know their source. And it doesn't say definitively that the bayonets have no coating at all, just that it is not SMC:

Pentax resurrected the Takumar name in the 1980s and 1990s for a budget line of zoom and prime lenses that lacked the Pentax "Super Multi-Coating" anti-reflective coating, an optical treatment that reduces lens flare. These lenses are marked "Takumar (Bayonet)" or "Takumar-F" to distinguish them from the older screw-mount Takumar lenses.

No it will not get stuck

It's a manual lens, so unless you want to use it wide open, you will use the green button to help with the exposure settings. Once you get used to doing that, it'll deliver great results, especially for the price

This copy of the lens was made in Taiwan, not Japan, but I cannot imagine how it could be any sharper or better built. Also (just discovered this) it has a built-in hood... just slide it out to shade and protect the front element. Cool.
