PP Challenge #152

Welcome to Post-Processing Challenge #152!

My apologies for taking awhile to get this challenge started. I had hoped to get out and get a good image for everyone to work with, but my work schedule and the 115 degree days we have been having lately made that not happen. I therefore have selected this photograph taken at Tempe (AZ) Town Lake. It needs work, so lets see what everyone can come up with. Good Luck.

I will close this challenge Saturday morning 06/27, 7:00ish.

In first, please excuse me for my "google translate" poor english. This PP is further than I usually do on my own pictures. I take the opportunity to make a killing on an image that is not mine. Sorry for this experiment.

Bit of work required. I got rid of the distracting weeds, figured they would be gone when they die anyway.
2nd attempt. I didn't realise how much this site compresses images.

First I did some minor sharpening and tweaking with clarity, vibrance and saturation. Then took the exposure down quite a bit to see how many of the blown highlights I could recover and get it to a more natural level, this would also get the separation in the light reflection like you would see it with your eye. I knew I wanted to keep the concrete wall and the decorative spheres in the foreground, so I brought in fill light to slightly illuminate them. Then I did a 2.745X1.2 crop, putting the far shoreline about 1/3 from the top of the frame, and the closest concrete sphere in the lower left third.

There's been a huge range of post processing choices with this challenge.

I edit all my work on a mbp with the brightness turned all the way up, I probaby should lighten images more than I do but I enjoy the rich dark and vibrate pictures I end up with this way. They just dont look great on dimmer or lesser screens

This photo just begs for some fun processing. And I'll be doing some. But first some straight processing - not crops, no tricks, no funky finishes. The fun stuff will come a bit later.

Here's Number 1

Here's Number 2

Okay, one crop

I'll be back.

I'll bet the folks across the water and under the lights are having fun, so it is time for us to have some fun.

I hope y'all enjoy.
