Gus,
I use Comcast too, but like you, the only affected site was this one. I have between 7 and 10 tabs open all the time, and non of them ran slow.
Cable can slow down when a lot of users get on line, but it doesn't slow for just one site, it slows for all of them, so that's not the issue. Also, IE will time out and give you the 'Page Not Found' message if it's not receiving info back from the site you are connected to, which wasn't happening for me.
So what was the issue? Here's what I suspect. When you connect from your house (Point A) to this site (Point B), you are actually going through many different servers (Points C, D, E, F, G, etc.) along the way. If one of those screws up due to mechanical, software, or usage issues, you get slowed down. Since there was no reported issues with this sites server(s), and since we were able to go to other sites with no problems, I suspect we were experiencing an issue with another relay point along the way.
As a side note, when I spell checked this message, I misspelled Comcast (COmcast). The spell checker asked if I meant compost! Maybe....
