Another NPentax Newbie! from Michigan

I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my Costco bundle of my new K5o with the 18-55 and 55-200mm WR lenses.
It will be here on Monday :-)

This is my first DSLR. I started a year and a half ago with a Panasonic G5 (which is a great camera). I have learned the limitations of my smaller censor and decided I wanted a new camera with a larger censor and liked the weatherproofing Pentax has.
After much research, I settled on the K50. I am already planning to get the 50mm prime f 1.4 and would love to someday have the 18-135mm lens also.
I am super excited.

Happy Saturday to you all!!

Welcome to the forum, Monday will seem like forever away when you waiting on new kit, but in truth it's only tomorrow.

I have only had it for 2 days so there is a lot to learn. It is quite a bit different from my Panasonic G5. However, I am thankful that I already understand the basics; exposure triangle, etc..

I look forward to learning from all of you experienced shooters!

I love that you're getting the 50 before the super zoom, I love my 18-135, but I bought my 50 first. I also think you're smart getting the ƒ1.4. My 50 ƒ1.8 gets used in low light situations where nothing else I have will work... given that, that seems to be it's main use (at least for me, my wife likes it as a walk around lens).. you may as well start with the ƒ1.4 and save yourself the years of thinking "I should have got the ƒ1.4 instead" that I've endured.

I have 30mm and 60mm f2.8 primes for my Panny so I am familiar with shooting with primes. I would eventually like to get the 18-135, but as you stated, need to cover low lighting situations better than with the kit lens.

I already ordered a 50mm f1.8. I got it for a great price $147 USD (coming from Canada). I think that will do me for awhile. Now I just need practice :-)
