Thought it would be all so easy...

A good friend offered me his entire Pentax screw mount camera collection.
Free, just take them away...two Spotmatics, one an F, the other II as well as
a well beaten 200mm zoom and
two 50 mm lenses.

He had converted to the bayonet mount for film some time ago and had
also purchased the first K-X he had seen
although the majority of his photography is still colour slide, E-6 based.

Had a local shop with a good reputation for service
check the cameras and lenses as working, they were.

I had last utilized Pentax gear thirty plus years before.
Went to Nikon from Pentax as it was easier to swap/trade/borrow
various Nikon mount lenses with friends.

My own photography acitivity has been on a severe downhill slope for many years
so thought maybe a change of venue from Nikon film to my original Pentax might help.
Looking back, six rolls of slide film in three years...

Put the camera to my eye and realized in the intervening years I had gone blind!

Not visually, blind looking through a viewfinder. My Nikon F100 had an adjustable
diopter finder, where was the device on this ancient camera? Was I that
dependent upon auto focus with the nikon system? Spoke with one other local
who uses Pentax,
he told me to go digital, as it would give me all the newer options, and better glass.

My digital purchase BTW was a pawn shop $50.00 point and shoot which is entirely adequate for
my needs at present. Maybe that's the problem. The present "need" is for no more
photography!

So returned to that same pawn shop...all that Pentax equpment yielded exactly $75.00.

That was many weeks ago; have not used a camera or taken a picture since.
Maybe it is time to start sorting those 35,000
colour slides in little yellow boxes in the basement?

My past photography was railways, and sometimes structures.
At age 69 have no family, no children that know of,
nor pictures of uncles and aunts.
don't count either.

Maybe it is time for "a change of pace?"
Maybe best sort all of those little yellow boxes
which are neatly labelled and maybe sell the contents.
After all money in hand is better than no money at all!

That may not have been a good decision. Depending on which 50mm and so on, particularly the condition, you might have received a lot more on the marketplace here. For example the S-M-C Takumar 50mm f/1.4 generally goes for $100 - 125 in good shape.

Anyway, welcome! And if you have any more Pentax gear to sell, consider offering here rather than the local pawn.

Always sell your used goods on Pentaxforum

One reason I did not post o the forum for sale was I was so miffed at my stupididity.
Then too have found through a friend who sells ham radio gear from here in Canada
the postage and/or even commercial shipping often exceeds the prices\of the goods
by a considerable margin. And then there's the specialized packings required
to ship goods. And the documentation.

Decide it was best to give it all up as a good example of my stupidity.

I should have noted at the time as well:
Am bipolar and have been for a number of years and even with considerable medication
tend to have these wild swings of fancy thinking all is right with my world and I can do
anything at any time and with absolutley any form of hardware.

NOT.

My psychiatrist was less than happy at this camera escapade. My drug dosage has been changed;
he felt too my disposal of the gear was not thought out and it should have gone to a specialized collector or equivalent.

That won't happen, now.

Have requested of the moderator to discontinue my membership in Pentax forums.
There are too many other conflicts in my existence at present and it has been felt
best remove them as quickly as possible.
