Pentax 85mm F/1.4 (discontinued) on a K1

Anyone using this combo?

---------- Post added 05-26-16 at 02:48 AM ----------

...and yes, I am new to this forum. Joined after purchasing an F1, which is proving exceptional. 24-70mm - the less said the better - its not bad but not up to the best standards for a mid-range "pro" zoom.

Do you mean FA*85/1.4?

That lens has been discontinued for a long time. Are you saying it is not supported (profile wise) on the K1?

I have no idea, it's still in transit from the guy I bought it from! I assume ACR which I use does support it.

It would be good to hear from anyone who as a K1 which he/she uses with that lens.

I love the FA* 85mm. The K-1 has correction profiles for it (just like other modern lenses), so it's fully supported.

That is what I thought, but, the headline was attention grabbing so I asked the question

Welcome! There are two Pentax 85mm f/1.4 lenses so which one you bought is unknown. It could be the FA*85 f/1.4 as mentioned above or the Pentax-A 85mm f/1.4. Both are exceptional but the A version is manual focus only.

You might want to look into fine tuning the auto-focus on your 24-70, or check for decentering. Most folks seem to find it very good at least as good as other zooms in that price range.

That's a focal length screaming for an updated lens on FF. Just modern coatings on the FA* would be great.

Welcome to the clubhouse!

Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) does not offer built-in profile support for the FA* 85/1.4. That being said, Adobe provides two free tools to assist in making or finding profiles for unsupported lenses. For information on Adobe Lens Profile Creator and Adobe Lens Profile Downloader, see...
