The choice is dictated by that being the best focal length considering the fact that the bulk of my shooting is done from the driver's seat of my truck while stopped in traffic. 135 is better for reaching out for folks sometimes, but too tight for catching scenes which are directly to the left or right of me. That the 105 does a great job is just an added benefit. I don't use it all that much when I am on foot....but then I don't really shoot all that much on foot. So yeah, most of my posted photos will come from it.
Nothing would tickle me more than to find that I am single-handedly driving up the price of the things.
