Excessive advertising

My viewing experience with Pentax Forum has been considerably degraded by excessive advertising including popups. Has the Forum increased the amount of advertising, or is this more likely a problem related to my own computer/internet connection? Thanks for your response.

The only advertising I see is on the forum front page.

In the forum proper, i.e. the discussions, there are no ads.

I've not seen any advertising on this forum, and absolutely no popups. I'm using FireFox.

Same here. OP, are you using an adblocker? I can recommend ublock origin - lightweight and does a great job.

I'm not sure an ad blocker would do any good as the ads aren't coming from the forum.

You must have some little program running in the background throwing up ads, Ivan - time for a computer cleanup!

Google adsense seems to be pushing out some rather obnoxious ads within the last couple months on the front/home page of the forum. I don't think you get the ads if you are a loyal site supporter or in some other member groups. An adblocker add-on to your browser should get rid of them.

I don't get them on my iPad nor PC. Both are running Chrome without ad blockers.

I just checked PF and this thread from my new laptop, Windows 10, in Explorer (have not used it for very long time).
There is one ad under PF logo module, and one ad in the thread, in member's post.

No ads with Mozilla and ad block.

On chrome - can't say I've ever seen a pop-up from PF. Nice.

I would do a check for AdWare. This is my guess on why it is happening. There are a number of AdWare cleaning programs to resolve this, some free. Lavasoft is good, Symantec and Norton have one. Watch what internet sites you go to. Some are just ways to get you PC infected!

Good luck!
