Hello FHPhotog,
The pics I've posted here began as raw files from my K10d.
I use Elements 6 layers to tone the image, selecting >adjustment layer and clicking on hue saturation, then tick the colorize box. Next adjust the hue and saturation to give a sepia tone. After clicking ok, adjust the opacity of the new sepia layer so that some of the colour of the background layer shows through, somewhere between 70% and 90% according to your taste.
Sometimes I might select another hue saturation layer and de-saturate to black and white, then reduce opacity to around 40% for more bite.
I'm sure that PS3 has even more scope than elements.
