Digital Concepts 2x teleconverter test

These shots were all taken on my K200D at 1/180 with built-in flash. Distance was about 4 ft.
The lens was a Tamron 28-300 XR LD macro, without any filter.
The subject is the front of my Schimmel grand piano, lit by many fluorescent bulbs.

I had to use manual focus for many of the shots with the TC. Despite my best efforts, I didn't always get it right. I know it's possible to do better since my shot at 600mm is sharper some of the other ones at lower focal length.

Things I learned :

1) manual focus is really hard ! Especially at short distance with long focal length.

2) there is a magenta cast in the 53mm + TC shot . It doesn't appear in the other shots. Odd.

3) my piano needs a cleaning

4) definite loss of light with the TC . But the 600mm shot doesn't look too bad to me.

I hope there will be a moon to photograph soon.
