I picked up the 16-45mm (won out over the DA*16-50mm because of price and Q.C. issues) and IMO think it is a much better lens than the 18-55 that came with my K10D. I also own the 50-135mm and love how that lens comes thru. One of these two lenses is on my camera about 90% of the time.
