I gotta say this is one heck of a lens. Images, wide open, are creamy smooth and highlights take on a specular glow that really complements the shallow depth of field. I've read on the 'net that some people think wide open images are "soft". But I don't really think this is the case - the in focus parts of my images are scary sharp and the bokeh transition is oh so buttery smooth; maybe this is what is being criticized as "soft"? (Disclaimer: I'm not saying others are wrong, this is just not my experience).

The A*135 is superb for creative, shallow depth of field photography. A perfect pair-up for short, manual focus telephoto primes is to own both the A*85 and A*135.
