SmartDeblur - open source blur removal software

Just FYI.

SmartDeblur by Vladimir Yuzhikov is software that is able to work on motion blur, out-of-focus blur, and gaussian blur. Sometimes these tools are useful to have about.

The program seems to work OK, within the natural limitations of such tools. It does however take time to understand all the sliders and options, and the UI isn't as elegant as it could be. But it's free, open source etc. (Windows binaries only).

SmartDeblur

Interesting discussion on the mathematics of deconvolution too.

Download is via GitHub:

As usual, run your own virus scans on downloads from GitHub, sandbox any new apps etc prior to use, and so on.

Amazing software...much better than any other i've tried.
PS : I've tested it with real lens blur
Of course, this should be used for forensic reasons or something like that...

There are a few consumer deconvolution tools now - FocusMagic is still popular, I think, but now there are things like Topaz InFocus and more recently Blurity. Maybe it was one of those.

Runs great on Linux too, I'm sure it would compile for OS X without too much trouble also.

Aha. Thanks for the tip. Now I remember looking at that a while ago. But it's deconvolution filter kept giving me 'Out of Memory' errors, or something. Maybe I should try it again on the other, better specced PC I have.
