What are your computer's specs? I use the previous version and it works fine for me on Win7/64.

Spec

My computer is an HP PRO 3300 series with an intel i3 2120 cpu 3.30 Mgh with 4 mega Ram. A good computer.
The previous version of the soft (4) runs verys well.
The new version on 32 bits run well on a vista 32 bits old computer.
The 64 bits version runs very very slowly

Yeah, that PC is more than enough for the software. All I can suggest is contact Ricoh and in the meantime use Ver. 4.

Which won't open K-3 files, I suspect.

Re write your thread, or simply post a new one asking specifically K3 owners how they do with this V.5 of the utilities.

I just confirmed it. Try to open a Imaging Resource K-3 DNG in PDCU 4 - nope. I can see the thumbnail, but it won't open the full DNG.

PDCU 4 isn't alone - DxO v8 won't even let you see the K-3 DNG in it's folder, let alone the thumbnail, or open the file.

Dear lare,
maybe the good way to find the answer in the Pentax Ricoh Imaging Technical Support,
using the following link:
Digital Support Contact Form - RICOH IMAGING UK LTD.
I tried this contact several times and received the answers soon and all
messages were enough useful.
Good luck.

Concerning the new Digital Camera Utility 5.0 I have more sad news:
as the Ricoh Imaging Technical Support informed me,
the DCU 5.0 will not be shared with us as an upgrade for PDCU 4 -
this software will be provided with new K-3 camera only, It won't be downloadable like an update.
The good news they told about is that previous Pentax DSLR models are compatible on this version 5 of the software.

But, in the past, when updated versions of current versions of PDCU have been issued, they are made available for download.

So while we probably won't see any downloads available for v5.0, by the time v5.1 comes around, I bet v5.1 will be downloadable from the Ricoh site. It will be the only practical way to make it available for existing v5.0 users.

No doubt.
DCU 5.0 will be supported with downloadable updates from the Ricoh site.
But PDCU 4.xx is impossible to transform into DCU 5.0 by downloadable update from Ricoh site.
Unfortunately. Very interesting: what's new in version 5?
To use the DCU 5.0 we should buy K-3 :-( ... or ask somebody who have bought K-3 already - to share the disk image with us... :-)

By the way, maybe the appearing of the version 5 means that version 4.40/4.41 - is the last version of the PDCU 4?

True. But the same applied with PDCU v3 (used to be called 'PENTAX PHOTO Laboratory') to PDCU v4, I think. Couldn't transform v3 into v4.

Most likely.

I like PDCU v4.4. It's stable (took several upgrades to get there though) and has some handy features. I wouldn't rush to get ahold of v5.0, esp if you don't have a K-3.

I do understand what you are talking about. :-)
I agree to participate for free in the process of DCU 5.0 testing. ;-)
Very interesting...

I am just testing the new Ricoh Digital Camera Utility 5.0 by developing RAW files from K-5 on my iMac.
As I can see, the RPCU 5.0 is the step in a right way compare to the previous version PDCU 4.41. New interface is pretty good.
The IQ is much better (from my point of view), the sharping tool works better, etc.
IQ is very competitive to the SilkyPix Developer Studio 5.
The sad thing is that new version is a little unstable: some tools may unexpectedly switched back to the defaults when you try to use another one.
Performance is the same as in version 4.40 - really not fast. ;-)
Hope this will be solved in farther updates.
Any way this RDCU 5.0 is very budding.
