Pentax Digital utility program

Help! (Embarrassed ):

I have just begun to use Pentax Digital utility program (rather than Picasa) . The main reason is to be able to work with RAW files. I am doing something wrong.

I download onto my PC and then find the image (easy). Then I go to "laboratory" and can see the convert icons but cannot access them (dull icon) , only option (darker icon) is "save image data list." I do that and nothing helps. What am I doing wrong?

Someone a couple of years ago posted a rather long tutorial / set of instructions for the utility. It was very good. I have searched for it, but I can't seem to find it at all....

Do you use PDCU4 or PDCU5? If you use PDCU4, which version (4.2, 4.3...)? (Version 5 comes with the K-3 box.)

There are some substantial difference between versions 4 and 5.

Also, which RAW file format to you use? DNG or PEF?

It is impossible to assist without more info... Thank you for the understanding.

Are you using a version of the software older than your camera? That might explain the greyed out buttons, but as others have said, we need more details to offer more than just guesses
