ISSUES: Windows 10 + Lighroom

Welp, took the jump and am up on Windows 10. It certainly has some wonderful improvements, however lightroom keeps freezing. I thought maybe it was just me, but here is a link with other users have the same issue.

Photoshop and Lightroom compatibility with Windows 10

If you are upgrading, maybe hold off till this gets resolved.

Thanks for posting this. I upgraded my laptop as a test and so far no issues with anything including lightroom. But I think I'll hold off on my main system for a bit.

yeah, thanks for the heads up, i'm postponing my upgrade to 10 - (i'm currently using 7) just to see how all the issues pan out. Personally what i'm hearing on forums around the 'net doesn't bode well for 10.

The Adobe team says there's no issue.

But the latest Lightroom does try to use your GPU to increase performance, so do uncheck that option if it's a problem.

Of course they would say that, they don't want the bad publicity that would come if their software didn't work with the latest and greatest OS from Microsoft.

The issue appears to be with certain video card drivers, not specifically with Lightroom. But since Lightroom now tries to use the video card.................

Anyway if you have the Use video card setting turned OFF, it should not be an issue. Still, I will test with my non-critical laptop and only upgrade my desktop when I'm sure there are no problems.

Microsoft wants your data.

before you install Windows 10, or at least allow Windows 10 to have access to your personal data, pictures and so on. you need to have a look at this article.

If you installed Windows 10 and like privacy, you checked the defaults, right? Oh dear ? The Register

It seems that if you install Windows 10 and do not .Change your default setting, Microsoft can have access to anything and everything that it wants from you. Emails; photos, Bank account numbers, Credit card numbers, whatever they wants. If it's on your computer they can get it.

Make sure you change your default settings to protect your privacy.

Whoa!

You're not sharing a password, you're sharing a token.

And having WifFi Sense turned on isn't enough, you have to check the sharing box for each particular wi-fi network you're offering, right?

What he said. I too am on Win 7 and am using custom a custom 64bit driver to support my Nikon scanner. I won't do the upgrade if there are Lightroom or scanner issues.

A little off-topic perhaps?

I'm running the latest non-CC version of LR (sorry, forgot the version #) and have had no compatibility issues with Windows 10. Desktop nor tablet.

Wacom have yet to release Windows 10 64 bit versions of their Intuos 4 tablet drivers too, yet another reason for me to postpone. Creative have also been dragging their heels on the Windows 10 driver front - like hell am I working at home without any music to listen to. I have a Klipsch 5.1 THX certified sound system - l'm not resorting to using on-board system audio codec for that.
