A question of cropping

I'd appreciate input on a question of cropping. Quality of the image aside, a friend and I are in dispute over this photograph: I hold the cropped area works better, he goes with the full frame. No right, no wrong, but I am curious how Forum members see it and why, or would you go with another crop. Not a burning issue, just a matter of how different folks see the world,
Brian

I prefer the "full frame" version. For me it adds the 3rd dimension to the szene.

Another vote for full image

The pattern repeat of the trees in the original, I think, strengthens the image. In the crop, the dark section of the trunk (on the right) pulls my eye out of the frame. My 2 cents worth.

Full frame for all the detail in the bottom trunks.
Although not the most compelling of compositions, there's still enough subject matter to sink your teeth into/cast your eyes upon...
