Light-Filled Modern Photography Studio by Japanese Architects

QuoteQuote:
A Japanese architecture firm has created a photographer’s dream, a bright and functional work space for ambient light photography. This photography studio by FT Architects features translucent wall sections and a large angled skylight to suit the photographer’s work. It is a brilliant purpose-built space, formed in a progressive manner that inspires the eye of its occupant.

Nice. In a month, the photographer is putting up black curtains for his newly bought strobes!

Some nice visual touches, but the apparent lack of wall insulation means the Japanese winters will probably require lots of heating, our shutting down for the duration. Form triumphs over function, yet again. Cool is the word, in more ways than intended, I imagine.

Yup, and here in Aridizona - it will freeze the occupants out in the winter and bake them out in the summer. That said, the main interest in posting was the light use concept. I think that the architects took the concept a bit too far - a building with a single focused concept - to the exclusion of good common building practices, with out some reasonable application of common sense, in the end will just be a waste. On the roof, and sides where the light is brought in, multi-pane insulated windows could easily be used. The rest of the walls do not add one iota to the overall (light) concept.

Why no photos of the result of this setup? I guess it's the same as most photo-gear announcements/porn featuring 37 photos of the item, but no examples it can actually do.

He could just start working nights. A photography studio with hours from 1am-4am could do cracking business if the location was right (like near drunks wanting something more upscale than a 'selfie').
