This is how I do it:
First save your photos as jpeg . Then re-size to a max of 800 pixels width or height.
Having done that, in the reply screen scroll down to Additional Options > Attach Files > Manage Attachments.
Click on "Manage Attachments".
Select photos by using Browse button and upload.
