I like it! I've always wanted to get a shot like that.
I'm curious about how you got it, i.e...the preparation, if any? Also, what camera settings?
Thanks in advance

oh ok. So this shot in particular was cropped (thankful to K-1 and 36mp). It was taken in my back yard. If theres an area with a lot of lightning I point my camera there. I think it was at 18mm (12mm for aps-c) f/8 and either leave the shutter open for 30 sec. Or I also started using bulb too

Thanks everyone! Is there anything you guys would change? Should I make the sky brighter? Hows the composition? It has a bit of a rule of thirds going on

The lightning and surrounding sky are nice but having a house in the shot is not so good. Try having a natural background if possible. If you must have buildings, make sure they are far away. Shots overlooking a city can work well in this case.

First, congratulations on capture itself and the colours of the clouds. I agree with what has been said above in relation to the house and foreground in general: the picture would work even better when you see the strike in the landscape, but that may well be unfeasible where you are. Anyway, I like the photo!

Great photo! I like how the bolt branches out, and how it illuminates the clouds. I appreciate the challenge and patience to get a good lightning shot. I Have succeeded only a few times: usually the rain spoils getting good shots. Well done!
