That also happens to be one of my criteria for selecting a lens. No aperture ring = I'm not interested. But I'm also one of the oddballs who can't work up a hell of a lot of interest in any lens that doesn't
screw onto the camera.
All I know is that if I had serious doubts about the availability of electricity on such an extended trip, my SV would be making the trip with me.
