Peter... great suggestion! Get the flash off-camera, at arms length. You can bounce it wherever you want!

It does get tricky with certain heavier lenses... and, manual focus becomes... well.. challenging! It can still be a great way to go!

The DIY diffuser is a great idea... looks somewhat similar to the shape of some Lumiquest diffusers.
