Ah, that was the question, that sprung to my mind immediately... Anyway, I would go for the 300 for sports anytime. You will have a hole between the 135mm end of your zoom and the 300mm, but I would think, that you would miss the longer fl all the time. But I love long tele lenses, so this might be prejudiced...
