Blackwater NWR could be fun as I've never been there.
Eastern Neck NWR is another option (which I believe is a bit larger) which is a complete island just north of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.
Both are part of the
Chesapeake Marshlands National Wildlife Refuge Complex but it would be difficult to do both due to the distances required to get around MDs river and road network.
