Hi there,
1. Three years ago we discussed 645D serial numbers at our forum:
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/48-pentax-645d-medium-format/155756-10-00...l-numbers.html
Nowadays we can play the same game with 645Z. Unfortunately PhotoMe cannot help us anymore - it cannot show all the chapter of 645Z files where was interesting data from 645D, but I have found that ExifTool can do it both with 645D and 645Z files.
For example, first sample from offical Japan website was made by camera that has:
Manufacture date 15-January-2014
and Internal serial number 1025
It's normal, because as 645D as 645Z were marketed in June (2010 and 2014) and first samples from official website were made by cameras produced in January too.
Another example: 645Z I've tested for dozen of days has:
Manufacture date 10-June-2014
and Internal serial number 1000688
I don't know yet what does it mean "1000 688", may be simply "1688" may be not,
but if we will share with each other this data from our 645Z cameras - we can understand when and how many cameras were produced.
And another interesting thing is that in the files we can find real serial number that printed on the bottom of the body.
2. The second issue is shutter count. When I use my 645D with somebody's SD cards and don't format them before shooting - camera will catch the numeration order from alien SD card. If I use PhotoMe or ExifTool, I easily can find correct number of shot, and then easily rename current file in computer. After that 645D will catch proper numeration order and I can keep wathing on my shutter count.
But nowadays PhotoMe cannot help us with 645Z files, and ExifTool unfortunately too.
There are plenty of us on PentaxForums, may be you use some different software, that can help with this issue?
Sincerely yours, Dmitry aka managger
