Pentax 645Z stolen

Sorry for posting this here ...

On the 22nd of August, my Pentax 645Z was stolen from my car in Frankfurt, Germany.
There was also the 90mm macro, the 55mm, the 35mm (MF) and the 150mm stolen.
(A Lenovo W540 was also in the car)

I tried to add the serial to the database, but there is no 645Z available.

I will pay a reward of 5000,- Euro if I get my equipment back!

Thank you!

Can you find the serial in the exit data at all?

Keep an eye on ebay etc as well.

Ouch!

Sad to hear. Aside from the usual (police, insurance company etc) you should probably also notify your local Pentax distributor. At some point the camera or lenses may find their way in for repair or cleaning.

It may also be useful to create a Google Alert for the camera, or something like '645Z for sale', setting options to scan the general web (not blogs etc) and only to scan for your region. As well as, of course, to set up a saved search on eBay for 645Z, and other local marketplaces.

All the best.

Bummer
I've been looking to buy a 35mm for a while now. I'll keep this in mind. Have you been able to add the serial numbers for the lenses into the database?

Your serial numbers are also on the serialnumbercards in the packaging.

(I will put this on facebook...)

If you remember any markers on the lenses, write them down on a sheet of paper! Things like scratches, stickers, cleaning marks,..
And yes, monitor local websites. At a price like that, you might even want to think about hiring a private investigator.
Really hope you get your stuff back

monty, sorry to hear that. I would add a message on German http://forum.digitalfotonetz.de too.

Was it an expensive car, at night, camera visible? Or just bad luck?

A 645Z will be hard to resell. I fear it will be sold out of country

I would inform Pentax in Hamburg too. Maybe, they can add your serial to their internal list of flagged serials, if they have such a thing.

If you have some pictures from the camera this might be helpful. I've never used it (thankfully), but I've read about others having success:

Stolen Camera Finder - find your photos, find your camera

Edit: I just double checked it doesn't appear that the site above supports the 645Z yet...

Wow, that's an expensive camera to get stolen. Not to mention the other equipment/lens stolen too.

We all hope the thief is found !

Oh man, that would drive me nuts. I feel with you. I usually "only" have in my bag a K5, Sigma 17-50, DA* 50-135 and a Metz 58, but I never ever leave the bag in my car. I carry it on one shoulder, and a laptop bag on the other. It's a pain, but it's worth the hassle.
