Pentax 6x7 - Light Leaking Problem

Hi,
i've a little problem with my Pentax 6x7 ML, i developed my first roll (TMAX 400) the pictures look great but i think there is something wrong the light seals, you can see what i'm talking about in the gif, there is always the same leak in every picture. Do you have any solution?Thank you

Might there be a hole in the second curtain?

Maybe the paint has come off someplace inside the body and you're getting a reflection off the metal?

That would be my guess. The 6x7 uses a cloth shutter that is relatively easily damaged.

Thanks for the replies, I got to check the curtains as soon as I finish the roll that ive inside.. I'm gonna give you updates! What if you're right and there's an hole in the curtain, is that easy to fix?

A google search on the subject turned up a lot of hits. Whether it's easy or not, I cannot say.

It could be a sticky blob of something that has both smeared and stuck to the curtain. If that is found to be the case, the curtain must be given extreme care: it will not tolerate being moved back and forth or any scraping, nor even the application of any chemicals e.g. alcohol to absorb anything sticky. A hole or tear is a much worse outcome and is best left to a repair bench that will very likely cannibalise a curtain mechanism from another 6x7 / 67 body. The downside of doing this is that the repair cost and very easily exceed the net worth of the camera. It's probably easier to just go and buy another 6x7, but that's a consideration for you.

I'd say that's definitely a pinhole, maybe even a slight tear in the shutter curtain. There are temporary remedies, but best thing to do is get the shutter curtains replaced,

Eric Hendrickson (Home) is reputable, reasonable, and can give you an estimate. Other options include KEH.com.

Hello!
I know this Thread is quite old, but I have the exact same problem with my Pentax 6x7 MLU! Did you find a solution? Or does somebody know what exactly the issue is?
Hope somebody can help me!

Thank you!

Bad news there, i think you have an hole in a curtain like i had on mine, you need to replace the entire curtain to obtain a durable result, maybe the experts have some DIY solution.

Cheers
Andrea
