k-50 with ricoh xr 50mm lens

I've been using an old 50mm lens for a while without any issues. Like every time I put it on I set the camera to use the aperture ring and set it to manual to control the shutter speed. And today what ever I do I can't control the shutter speed, it's alway on automatic whether on M, Tv, TAv....nothing seems to work...

Does the camera function correctly with another lens? Most people will tell you to clean the contacts, assuming there are some.

Clean the contacts with a microfiber cloth. Your camera may be detecting the lens as something other than what it is. Clean the mount face on the lens as well.

I am assuming that your description is a little loose. M mode should always allow change to shutter speed even with no lens on the camera. Are you sure that your mode dial is actually changing the mode?

Steve, Everything works fine with the 2 lenses that came with the camera. When I use my Ricoh 50mm ,fully manual, thats when I can't control my shutter speed, but this recent. It hasn't always been so. I have cleaned everything with no difference. After a couple of expirements I am doubting programing issues within my camera.

What does your camera do with no lens mounted?

FWIW, I own two copies of the XR Rikenon 50/2 and they work fine with my K-3, as with my recently sold K10D. You may want to check the aperture actuator lever on the lens. Is there any chance it is stuck in the stopped-down position? I have no idea how that might affect camera function, but that is about the only thing I can imagine that might be lens related.

Yes, there is a reset feature in the menu system. See pages 219 and 220 in the user manual. It is done in two places.

If your camera is still under warranty, I suggest that a service call might be in order.
