K3 and Tamron AF80-210mm f4.5-5.6

Neither my K3 nor my K100D will recognize the Tamron AF80-210mm lens.
It seems to lock into place but I cannot depress the shutter button nor does it auto focus.
Any ideas, suggestions, help.

Have you successfully used other auto-focus lenses with those cameras? Are the cameras' auto-focus levers set to AF-S or AF-C?

Is the Aperture ring locked in the 'A' position? Does it even have an aperture ring?

Reviews I've seen online tend to talk about the cheapness of its construction and fragility...

I have used other lenses with both cameras and they are interchangeable.
I have another Tamron 70-300 that works perfect. and the Pentax 50mm works on both.

When I attach the 80-210 both cameras are unresponsive.

I will check the aperture ring when I get back in front of the camera.
Hopefully it is a simple fix as I like the weight of this zoom.

It turns out that the aperture ring setting was not correct.
