What was Ricoh Thinking?

...seriously, what's with the LED's???
Is this some sort of low-light assist or alien code?

I'm thinking that the OP hasn't read the official announcements from Ricoh.

You're not the target customer. It's pretty safe to say, none of us are.

Word is that both Sony and Nikon are scrambling to release several me-too models.

Agreed, Canon, Nikon and Sony will desperately do the same to woe the few potential customers left. Many DSLR users in my circle have already owned high-end Canikon models (but still get crappy photos), are going back to bridge cameras (like Lumix FZ200).

Me for one, an occasionally-brief veteran of nearly all recent K-bodies except the K-3. (k-100d, -7 -200d, -x -r -200 -5 -5ii -5iis)
This has the K-3 internals that I wanted in a smaller and friendlier body. No WR, true - but my K-5 will be here for those days!
/edit/ My wife likes it a lot, which made the preorder easier

We must give partial credit to P.Ricoh for trying something that even Sony didn't think of - and they've tried everything since the simple A200/700/900 days!
