Been using Burst mode for the first time, and with Catch in Focus

I've had a Pentax DSLR for a few years now, a K5IIs, but I never used it in Burst Mode. I wasn't until I got the K3 a couple of months ago that I started to think about using it. I think reading how it's a little faster than the K5II, and that it's one of the quickest shooters on the market made me think a little more about it. I've been trying it out for the past few days, and tonight I put it to use at a velodrome. Not only was I using that feature, but I was also using "Catch in Focus" to shoot the cyclists. It worked well. Most of the shots were taken with the Adapt-all 2 60-300mm lens.

I use Hi-continuous (burst) shooting all the time. The K-3 can do up to 8.3 fps, and it is faster than the K-5/K-7.

For a best use, IMHO, you need to switch off all in-camera processing (incl. lens distortion correction, high ISO correction ....) and JPEG. And have a fast card (class 10 or faster).

My 5 cents..

I love the fact that at the high frame rate, I can bracket shots handheld and have them come out virtually identical, composition-wise. This is because the time-interval between each bracketed shot is so short as to practically cancel out any slight hand movement/shift that there might be.

And coupled with the K-3's quiet and smooth shutter mechanism, it's a lovely experience hearing/feeling that burst mode in action.
