Note Well: you can use a flatscreen as a monitor

I've asked this question in the K-50 forum, and found my own answer: What I did was hook up a cable from the camera to the AV input of the flatscreen, (or probably any TV that would have AV inputs). I only used the V (yellow) port. The flatscreen acted like a giant monitor for movie mode; also showing the actual back info of the camera when in other modes, such as P, or other selections. When taking a still, the results are also shown for the instant on the 'monitor', just like the back info on your camera. In fact the back info of the camera is shown as a default, just like you would be looking at your camera. You may be limited as camera distance to the 'monitor', but it works! I didn't use the available USB connection that was part of my cables, just the yellow, V, input.

This is good to know, thanks. I guess using a big screen makes easier for other people to look at what the cameras sees. It may work in live view as well
