Interesting thanks...was not aware the extended warranty was optional. I was thinking of this thread and overlooked that it was a promo that the warranty was free for all K-series bodies purchased through the end of July 2009:

I emailed as I did not receive a card in my box. I also went ahead and blew $3.99 on an genuine extended Pentax Warranty here just in case:
