BRB - putting in my pre-order now.
A K-mount version of the Canon 24-105 has long been on my wish-list. It's full-frame too. Hope it's affordable.

Planned date available: September 2013 for Canon (to be determined for Sigma, Sony, Nikon, Pentax). Just like a few recent Sigmas, Canon gets them first, for some reason. Even Nikon has to wait.

Man, if this was weathersealed I'd jump all over it. I'd probably stick with the 18-135 unless this has some fantastic image quality (which is highly possible, considering the new Sigma).

Por
Why not... 35mm - 150mm lens. Is 35mm not a good FoV? Is 150mm not a good FoV?

When Pentax announces the K-1 it will be a very popular lens.

I contacted sigma about the 18-35mm and also asked for the 24-105mm. I was told that the 18-35 is coming for Pentax mount on Feb 2014, but that they have no plans to release the 24-105 for Pentax.
This is possible a bummer based on the price they put to this lens and the quality. Knowing how good the Art series has been, this 24-105 might be a sweet gem to mourn about

Hmm. Looks like I won't be gettin an AF capable replacement for my SMC A 35-105 f3.5 any time soon.

But Sigma always seems to send out mixed signals about which mounts it will support and their delivery sequence, depending which web site you visit or country you are in.

The picture gets even more confusing with them, now that they also offer a mount changing service with these new lenses, since that service suggests they have designed all their newer lenses to be easily adapted for different mounts.

They said that about the Sigma 85mm.... then they said that about the 18-35mm F/1.8.... Then they said the USB Lens Dock would not be available in K-mount.....

Why do people bother to E-mail Sigma? The people who answer e-mails probably know less about the Sigma product line than the people who e-mail in.

i guess you guys are right.
especially now that they offer the mount change service. Why in the world would they design a lens that would restrict them from changing to pentax, sony, nikon, etc?

maybe if they dont offer this lens for pentax we can buy a sony/canon/nikon mount (whichever is cheaper) and pay the $150 to change to pentax. If they continue making high quality optics for low prices it might be just worth it.

well... Not to continue beating on the bush... but got an email back from them again saying that thee lens mount change service is only going to be available for the mounts that the lens is in production for. So this lens seems is not going to be available for Pentax.
Sigma changed their website and even apologized for the misinformation of the 14th. Basically they took away the pentax name from the list.

We will see. It has been pretty normal for Sigma to not announce a new lens in K-mount. The Sigma 85mm F/1.4 was offered in K-mount even though it was not listed originally. Sigma told several people that the USB dock would not be released for K-mount, and now they say it will be.

When Pentax releases the FF body we will see Sigma expand K-mount.
