Judging from the source of that one, this is purely clickbait.

I'm looking forward to the announcement of the new K-3II for next year, maybe for November release.

Clickbate - very well could be. My interest in this, is the potential of a rumored Pentax full frame perhaps sometime in 2015. Pretty much the same time frame. With the 645D still currently available in the $4K range, along with the 645Z going for $8,500 - how would a Pentax compare to something along these lines for $3,800. Way too rich for my blood - as a rank hobbyist. Anyway about 45 hits in an hour.

My intention was not to start off a new FF thread...

Pricing seems a little steep. Other than that, I wouldn't know. The D810 is selling for about 3200 -- seems like that is what they are targeting.

It is challenging to garner some guidance here. My guess is that any new FF body aimed at the enthusiast market will be between $2-4K. The 5D is a franchise, whereas we don't know what and if the Pentax will be. What further complicates matters is if Canon also releases a FF mirrorless. Sounds crazy, but they could.

I just don't see Pentax directly competing with anyone. Too expensive, requiring way too many cultural, infrastructure and hardware improvements. At this point Pentax is a cult brand, Ricoh doing their own thing for better or worse.

For me that is fine, quite like it that way, not interested in Pentax becoming another Nikon/Canon beast.

If the final product is close enough to this, then I think I'll revise my cost estimate upward some to be in the $4-5,000 range.

I cannot see much guidance for a Pentax FF product here--very different sub-market. Both will, however, require new lines of lenses, far from comprehensive in range at the start.

I just see dollar sign$ with wings.

My thoughts exactly. What could Canon bring to the table in another version of this body that warrants that kind of sticker?

They bring exactly what it is: a very high MP body, maybe a few other lesser scale features expanded from the 7DMK2. As I noted prior, the 5D is a franchise: Canon doesn't have to hit a home run to sell containers full--a double will do. And new lenses that can better handle the resolution will generate a huge amount of sales. This is a deeper market from a relative handful of Pentax sales to consumers: institutions, companies, working photographers, and then consumers.

I for one, wouldn't be surprised if Canon unveils a new 5D4. They're way behind Nikon ...in most of the Full Frame stakes. The 5D3 doesn't really compete with the Nikon D810 sensor wise. Many Canonites (check out Canon forums) also feel that Canon sensors are not up to Sony sensor standards...and of course Nikon, Sony, even little ole Pentax use Sony sensors.

Nikon came out with the D750...a much cheaper camera than the 5D3...but one that I would prefer...due to it's features and passport to Nikkor lenses.

The thing about Canon is that they already have such a large built in user base, they don't need to be better than anyone, they just need to be almost as good for almost as cheap. A Canon user that has a full assortment of L lenses isn't going to leave the brand just because the newer body is a few hundred dollars more than the competition.
I think enough Canon users have been bitching about Canon not being on par with Nikon's newer bodies and leaving that finally Canon is going to step up their game.
