The One (if you must choose) - aka Desert Island Camera

A quick question to you folks hanging out in here - it may be difficult for some, easy for others - but hopefully it'll spark some cool answers.
The age-old "if you had to choose" question, or the ala desert: I know nearly everyone around here has a love of MANY cameras, film and otherwise and many of us have amassed private collections ranging from a few to a few dozen (more in some cases), but... (I just really want to ask this here)

If you had to choose just one of your film cameras, any brand, any format - and I do mean JUST ONE - which would it be? And why?

**edit - you dont have to currently own it.

I would choose my Pentax LX because it is the camera that enables the greatest variety of techniques and situations with the greatest ease. The extensive metering range, extremely bright and interchangeable viewfinders, and true TTL metering for flash and ambient light off the film plane are definitely the best collection of features in the Pentax collection and unmatched in any other lineup.

Without a doubt it would be my K1000 SE. It's intuitive simplicity, it's design and it's shutter sound.

I'm pretty sure there are satellite phones with cameras today. So, I guess I'd choose one of those
Edit: Didn't read the part about 1 film camera I own - in that case the Praktica PLC3, which is the ONLY film camera I own.

If the batteries are available I'd choose a LX or a Canon F-1N, without them probably I'll go with a Spotmatic.

Pentax MX. Compact, professional-grade, and independent of batteries. I am assuming the magic film fairy on this island delivers fresh film and takes the used ones away to make into prints, but I would want to proof myself against the absence of the battery fairy.

(ETA I missed the point about it being a camera I actually have. I don't own one - yet - but if I were planning that desert island trip I would do so right away. In the interim I'll take my ME, which is just as small and which will be good for 1/100 when the batteries die and good for 1/1000 to 8 sec before that. Right now, bringing another film camera into the house might risk death by spouse, so I'm going to have to put an MX off for a bit. If they made a Spotmatic with a split screen that was the size of an MX, I'd pounce on it like a starving farm cat on a mouse.)

Pentax KX. I don't know what it is, but I seem to take better photos with my KX than any of my other cameras. By "better", I mean more appealing, not technically better as far as focus or exposure. I know it's not the camera, it's the photographer, but still...there's something about that KX. If I'm going to be stranded on a desert island, I might as well take appealing photos.

(Also, when the delivery guy delivered my prints, I'd hitch a ride and get rescued. And then keep shooting with the KX.)

I had about 15 pentaxes of various vintages but have one last one that I just can't let go. The original Spottie. Even though the battery is dead I still like it.Goes with the few Takumars I have retained.

I have only four film bodies left -- three MEF's (two near-mint black and one silver NIB) and an LX (the only film body that really gets used at all anymore), so the choice would be easy -- the ~LX~ (with, if I could have only one lens to use on it, the F* 300/4.5, which might not be too useful on a "desert island" - dunno - but that's what I'm goin' with...)...

I own two SLR film cameras, my KX purchased around 1997, and a Canon of some kind from the late '80s. My choice is the KX with zero hesitation. It is a camera I'll always love - nothing fancy or pretentious - what you see is what you get, simple and reliable match-needle exposure control, good viewfinder, DOF preview, delay timer and a shutter release button. A great example of the KISS (keep it simple, stupid) principle.

Pentax KX, as it's more reliable than the K2DMD or LX.
