Pentax Q7 Complete Kit - $999.95
Posted By: Marktax, 01-22-2014, 01:25 PM

At first available in only in Japan for between $1200-1600, the Q7 Complete Kit is now available from the U.S. Pentax Webstore. It includes the camera body and all the lenses except the very new 08 wide zoom, and hoods for the 01, 02, and 06, and a CPL for those 3 lenses. It also includes the custom camera case made for the complete kit offering. I received mine today and might do an unboxing video. Additional note: The original Pentax announcement was that only 1,000 copies of this kit would be made. I have to guess that they did not sell out in japan, hence the subsequent offer in the USA.

That is very nice, thanks for posting. I keep looking at the Q line and keep managing to avoid buying one. I have too many K mount cameras. But I am tempted again.

Oh man - when I first saw this about a year ago, I wondered if it would ever become available in the US.

I am really intrigued by this, but it is way more of a "want" than a "need" for me right now.......but so tempting......

Looking forward to your un-boxing video and you initial thoughts.

By far the most knowledgeable fellow on Q7 is user philzucker over at DP Review under Pentax Compact Camera Talk. He has done some recent detailed testing of every lens in the Q line except the new 08.

Does this user, philzucker, have a website or some consolidated site that contains all of his test data? I would love to see it!

This is pretty cool. A whole system in a box, for the price of a couple lenses (or a fraction of the price of a single DA* zoom lens). I think the Auto 110 was also sold this way. The only things missing besides the wide zoom are a more durable case and a miniature flash.

Not sure I would carry that blue bag -- seems better for my wife/daughter. Someone had posted some Japanese ads which showed what looked to be an interesting sling bag for the Q system. Maybe they could incorporate that into an option for a His or Hers kit, to make exchanging gifts a bit easier. Chocolates are so overrated.

That is an absolutely awesome little kit, as someone said, for the price of a couple of lenses.
If my wife wasn't the point and shoot type, I'd find a way to give this to her. And I'd get some use from it as well, that 1/1.7 sensor is very capable
Seriously, I love Ricoh/Pentax. I even love the blue bag. Everything about this kit is awesome. It even includes CPLs! Excuse me while I swoon over it

The only three lenses you need are the 01, 02 and 06, though. Maybe the 03 or 08 if you want to go wider.
