FWIW there is a slight difference on sealing with DA*, which used to be called 'AW', which is claimed superior to 'WR'.
This white paper explains it

Thanks for pointing out the whitepaper. Prior to this, I had never seen an official statement that DA* sealing was superior to lesser WR-rated lenses. (Or, to put it another way, that WR lenses are less robust than DA* lenses.) Good to see that explained in an official publication.
