Looks like they have equal number of k-01 too, though prices are not exactly enticing.

Oh well, I guess I shoulda sold mine back when it was worth something. I use my FA 43 all the time and the DA 40 XS just sits around.

I'll probably just hold onto it at this point. It's a perfectly good lens but the 43 is better.

This is what I paid brand new for my at Bricks and Mortar London Drugs here in Canada some time back.

Sitll thinks it a good lens made better by the compact size.

I had looked through their K-01s before - the prices are a little lower on their UsedPhotoPro site... The prices vary a bit $289-299, even on items that seem identical.

$299 for a K-01 with a shot count of 59 is comparable or better than what KEH has been asking. They also have a pile of "mint" K-30s for $387 ($369 at UsedPhotoPro).

Some of the K-01s had such low shot counts that I would think they were demonstrators, except what store ever demonstrated the K-01? Maybe it's a pallet of Amazon returns?

EDIT: also a bushel barrel of 18-55 kit lenses, some $42, some $53. Maybe it depends on which day they came in?

I've made two purchases from Roberts Camera (directly, not through eBay), and am very happy with both. Important to read their listings carefully. Their "Good" condition can include lens flaws I'd rather not have, so I stick mainly to Excellent and better with them.

I have never had the guts to buy off of e-bay. Do you have any protection when buying there? I generally use Amazon, KEH, or B&H as I feel a degree of safety with these companies. Am I just being silly?

Robert's Camera has two real brick and mortar stores in Indianapolis, Indiana. From the ebay info, it appears they are the same business, and I have been in there many times looking over their used equipment. Unfortunately, they haven't had much in the way of Pentax gear in many years, but maybe that is changing.

eBay buyer protection is pretty good, from the buyer's point of view. However, it's definitely not as simple as a return to KEH, etc. Buying from a vendor such as Roberts should be no difference whether you buy directly or through eBay, but with private sellers it is very much caveat emptor.
