Pentax K-S1 White Body $347.63
Posted By: reduno, 03-06-2015, 03:09 PM

Amazon.com : Pentax K-S1 SLR Body Kit (White) : Camera & Photo
Amazon currently has the Pentax K-S1 body in white for only $347.63 US. Just picked one up to match the white K-30 I got last week. They also have the Blue Cream Soda model with lens I think (description say lens kit and body only) for $356.83.

Currently only 4 of each left.

Wow, that's a very aggressive price! Congrats to those who get one - especially new Pentaxians!

Wow I like that blue cream soda model! Much better than the metallic blue model.

For a moment I thought this was a K-S2. Phew! This is a fair price IMO for the K-S1.

Sorry Adam, they are only taking $3.00 off some of the K-S2 models. I wanted the smaller body as an upgrade to my K-x for travel (using a DA 40 XS).

Wow that's quite a price drop. Does anyone know if you can set the rear screen on the K-S1 to stay turned off on startup? The K30 has a workaround that keeps the screen off if you save your settings to a user mode after having turned the screen off in the info menu. Since the K-S1 doesn't have any user modes, is there a way?

The white body is now $345.27, and the "Blue Cream Soda" model is down to $338.99. My white one hasn't shipped yet, so I may need to cancel and reorder if the price keeps dropping. Can anyone confirm if the white on the K-S1 is matte or glossy? I saw a white K-50 today and it appeared to be matte compared to my gloss K-30. I was hoping the finish would match. Thanks!

Thanks pbancr. I now have a tracking number, so I will be able to see the finish for myself soon. My local Target has the white K-50 on clearance, so I may pick one of those up too (if its a better match). I think I need help, way too many cameras already!

K-S1 prices did take a jump after a couple more sold (only 3 white and 2 blue cream soda left). The "Blue Cream Soda" model price almost doubled!

Yeah, I saw a white K-50 at Target a while back, and I was very surprised with how much I disliked the matte finished compared to the "Crystal" finish of my white K-30.

The glossy paint on my K-30 is beautiful, and I think it would also be better at repelling dirt and grime than a matte finish, so I can't imagine why they would have gotten rid it. You don't see very many hand-held electronics with a white finish that is not glossy, and there's probably a reason for that.

I believe the gloss finish on the K30 is an over-spray on the camera body. I suspect the matte finish on the K50 may be straight out of the molding process, and consequently cheaper to produce. I'm not a plastics engineer though.
