That's a really good price. Recently paid a good deal more for a new Tamron.

Hi,

That's a great price...I have never bought anything off the Canadian Amazon site...

This lens,, for instance, says free shipping - do most of the shipping quotes apply to US addresses?

Thanks,

If you put in the cart and try to check out (you can login with the amazon US login name y password), you will see that it can't be shipped to a US address.

They are $599.99 w/free shipping to US at Prodigital2000 in Canada. I have one on the way.

Thanks for the heads up, cobbled a few sheckles together and bought it! BTW This lens also handles full frame. Apparently, Di lenses handle full and cropped sensors and Di II only handle cropped.

If you buy it (or could buy it) from Canada does it come with a USA warranty?

My understanding is that it comes with a one year international warranty. With the Pentax product I bought from Canada (I'm Canadian) (from Prodigital2000), I got a 2 year Canadian warranty card as well as a 1 year international warranty card.

edit : I'm not 100% sure of that, so one might want to call Ricoh to make sure.

I recently bought one from Prodigital 2000. They told me that it has a 6 year Canadian warranty. If I needed repairs I would have to send the lens to them and they would forward it to Tamron's Canadian repair center. They would then send it back to me and even pay the shipping to me. I have it in writing. I was very happy with my transaction with them. They are a Tamron dealer. Your mileage may vary if you purchase from another dealer.

If I recall correctly, I believe Prodigital2000 will handle warranty claims in Canada for you, as an intermediary! Check with them on that. I had written inquiring about this when they had a very good price on the Tamron 70-300mm VR UCD posted on eBay. For my needs (to complement, not replace, prime lenses) I ended up going for the Canon 55-250mm IS STM on my Sony A5000 with 'smart adapter' at about half the size and weight, and with better expected IQ at 250mm. Their response to me was complete, specific, and courteous.
