Several deals on this lens have popped up lately - I posted this one but no takers means I'm not posting more deals for now.
I'm surprised this gem is languishing - but the K-1 is likely soaking budgets right now. LOL.

Given the choice I would not turn down the DA 1.8 - I wish I could do a shootout between them to find out if there is any significant difference.

Yeah, I think the DA50/1.8 is the same optically. Still not a bad deal considering the DA50 is back up to $116.95 on B&H. Sure, this one isn't new but you get a metal mount with it.

I had both for a while. I personally prefer the F 50mm 1.7 to the DA 50mm 1.8. It was mostly a feeling decision though, as both lenses performed equally good on most regards. More precisely, my feeling was that the F 50mm 1.7 had a warmer tone (which I preferred) than the DA 50mm 1.8 which seemed to produce cooler image and I also preferred the out of focus transition of the F 50mm 1.7. That last point might have been highly influenced by the color tone of the image however.
I also shoot film, so the aperture ring was also a deciding factor. Had the DA 50mm 1.8 been a DC or SDM lens, I would have kept it.

I have not used the 1.8 and I am very happy with the F 50 1.7 (plus it is FF; just in case I get a K1 in the FFuture)
